Hamsatu Mamadu Mshelbila was born in Jos Plateau State in the early seventies, although both parents come from Garkida, Adamawa State. The twin, with her sister, went on to Corona Primary School Bukuru and then Federal Government College both in Jos. She further went to the College of Education Hong in Adamawa State where she studied Fine Arts. Eager to learn more, she went to the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and studied Industrial Design.
Her academic pursuits didn't stop there. Hamsa served in Oroki High School for her National Youth Service Corps and went back to Ahmadu Bello University Zaria for a Masters degree in Art Education in 2001. She played a major role in the organizing of the exhibbitionWhile there, she part time lectured in Federal College of Education Yola at the Department of Fine Arts. On finishing the Masters in 2006 she immediately continued her PhD in 2007 and has obtained a Doctorate in Art Education.
In the course of her academic pursuits, Hamsa met and married Peter Sale, another artistic and academic mind, in 2008. They both now lecture in the Creative Arts Department at the University of Maiduguri, Nigeria.
