My name is Hamsatu Saleh, I was born in Jos Plateau State of Nigerian in the year 1970. I’m currently an Associate Professor in the department of Fine Arts University of Maiduguri, Borno State of Nigeria. My area of specialization is in Art Education where children’s art is my main focus. My Masters Degree and PhD I worked on children’s drawings especially in their developmental stages. Children’s art is so interesting because they have a special way of communication to us in ways they only know, feel, and understand even without spoken words. It is my desire that adults who see their art as boring and childish should be able to leave ‘children to be children’ and that adults drawings are not the same as their own. I also want adult to know that every child’s drawing means something to them. It is my goal that adults should allow children to express themselves freely in their own way.
